  5.     a pilot to abort a landing attempt on an aircraft carrier.

  7. white shirt   A deckhand responsible for inspecting aircraft
  8.     about to be launched from an aircraft carrier.
  9. whiteout   The inability to distinguish colors during the

  11. wild weasel   A method of hunting surface-to-air missiles
  12.     by using one's own aircraft as bait; also the name given
  13.     to the aircraft used for this type of mission.
  14. William Tell   USAF exercise held every other year at
  15.     Tindell AFB, FL; equivalent to Navy Top Gun.
  16. wing loading   The gross weight of an aircraft fully
  17.     loaded divided by the area of the supporting surface.
  18. wing sweep   A wing that is angled forward or rearward
  19.     from the point of attachment to the fuselage.
  20. WIZZO   Nickname for back seat operators in the Air
  21.     Force.  From Weapon Systems Operator.
